Productivity Assessments Boosting Innovation
“Staying connected with organizations across the region through regular and informative events.”
TIMMINS, ON – September 8th, 2014 – The Productivity & Innovation Centre (PIC) is excited to announce the launch of productivity assessments in northeastern Ontario.
As part of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE), and with the support of the Timmins Economic Development Corporation, NEOnet, FedNor, NOHFC and partners, PIC will provide Small- to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with financial assistance to examine their operations via third party productivity assessments.
The Productivity & Innovation Centre (PIC) will provide businesses with an opportunity to have their operations assessed by qualified business consultants. PIC will cover 75% of the cost of the operational assessments. The consultant selected by the firm will use a productivity assessment tool to review all aspects of the business’ operations and provide a report that will outline operational strengths and weaknesses and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
“To remain competitive, SMEs must boost operational efficiency. The productivity assessment helps identify where your organization is adding value, how to increase competitiveness and improve operational efficiency saving time and money two key components to running a successful business” says Timmins Economic Development Corporation Chairman, Fred Gibbons.
Based on the recommendations of the productivity assessment, the firm can access up to $5,000 (80% of eligible costs) in funding support to achieve operational efficiencies. Eligible expenses could include, but not limited to, equipment modernization/upgrading, developing and implementing an ICT strategy, and training for employees and/or managers.
“Businesses that have an updated business plan including short- and long-term objectives are more likely to streamline their operations and outperform their competition. PIC will provide participating businesses with an action plan to move their company forward and ensure businesses are aware of the programs and services offered by our partners that will assist them in reaching their goals” says NEOnet Chairman, Denis Bérubé.
PIC thus focuses on building innovation and productivity capacity and will help SMEs to move forward with commercialization of products and/or initiatives, increasing their overall operational efficiencies. PIC can facilitate access to provincial/federal innovation programming through ONE, Ontario Centres of Excellence, FedNor, NOHFC, IRAP and other sources to assist with all stages of business development, from research & development to commercialization.
