Women in Trades and Technology
“Staying connected with organizations across the region through regular and informative events.”
104 girls in grades 9 through to 12 were proud to participate in Skills Ontario Women Career Exploration Event in partnership with NEOnet & PIC for a second year. The networking event provide participants the opportunity to meet, network, and enjoy a meal with female mentors who have already chosen a career path in the skilled trades and technologies.
The girls learn first-hand what it takes to be successful in the trades and technologies from women who have made it their career. Some mentors work for larger companies and some own their own business the variety inspired some young women to become entrepreneurs. The mentors provide demonstrations, videos and images of their work/workplace and the girls asked questions on their education level, their career path and their favourite part about the job.
The event took place November 1st 2016 at Northern College and was a huge success.
